About the Artist

John Grabiel is a fine artist living and working in Naples, Florida. Born in Flint, Michigan in 1952, he was deeply influenced by a creative family, particularly his father—an industrial designer, artist, and craftsman—as well as his high school art teacher, fine artist Richard Wolfgang. While many of his peers pursued careers in the local automotive industry, John felt drawn to a life in the creative arts.

For more than forty years, John owned and operated a decorative painting business in Naples. A highly skilled artisan, he specialized in traditional faux-finishing techniques including wood graining, marbling and trompe-l'œil. Working closely with interior designers, he helped transform luxury homes, bringing their visions to life through craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail.

Throughout those years, John held onto a personal dream: to create artwork of his own that others might enjoy.

Today, John devotes his time to painting impressionistic landscapes, both en plein air and in the studio. Working in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, he is inspired by the serene beauty of Southwest Florida's coastal environment. His paintings reflect a sense of peace and connection to place, capturing the quiet moments and natural surroundings that continue to inspire him every day.
